Independence Day on August 15 Declared a Dry Day in Coimbatore District; All Liquor Outlets to Remain Closed

In Coimbatore district, all licensed liquor premises, including Government liquor shops/bars (FL1), bars functioning in recreational clubs (FL2), bars functioning in star hotels (FL3), Tamil Nadu Hotels (FL3A), bars operated through the Tourism Department (FL3AA), and imported foreign liquor outlets (FL11), shall be declared “Dry Day” on Saturday, 15.08.2026 (Independence Day), and all liquor licence premises shall remain closed.
The District Collector, Thiru. Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar, I.A.S., has stated that action will be taken under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, against persons who sell liquor in violation of the regulations on the above-mentioned date, illegally stock liquor, or transport liquor from one place to another.
