Extension of Time to Submit Public Comments on Temples Constructed as per Agama Rules
In accordance with the orders of the Hon’ble Madras High Court and the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the Government of Tamil Nadu constituted a five-member committee on 06.10.2025 to identify temples under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department that were constructed in accordance with Agama rules.
The details of 34,971 temples examined by the Agama Committee were published on the official website of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. The public was earlier requested to submit any omissions or comments by 25.09.2026.
The committee has now decided to provide additional time for the public to submit their comments. Accordingly, any omissions or comments regarding the details of the temples may be submitted by 5.45 PM on 10.10.2026, either by post to the Committee for Identification of Temples Constructed as per Agama Rules, Commissionerate of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, 119, Uthamar Gandhi Salai, Nungambakkam, Chennai–34, or through the Department’s official website.
