Restrictions for Devotees Visiting Perumal Mudi and Melmudi Temples During Puratasi Saturdays

A district-level online coordination meeting was held on 30.09.2026 under the chairmanship of the District Collector, Thiru. Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, I.A.S., to ensure the safety of devotees and protection of the forest environment in the hill temples of Coimbatore District.

As a large number of devotees visit Perumal Mudi and Melmudi temples on Puratasi Saturdays, the following restrictions will be enforced:

  • Devotees visiting Perumal Mudi must use the Mangarai Check Post, while those visiting Melmudi must use the check post at the foothills of Palamalai. Entry through Thadagam is prohibited.
  • Trekking will be permitted only between 7.00 AM and 10.00 AM. Devotees must return to the respective check post by 4.00 PM.
  • A maximum of 1,000 devotees and 250 vehicles will be permitted at Perumal Mudi Temple.
  • A maximum of 500 devotees and 150 vehicles will be permitted at Melmudi Temple.
  • A ₹15 safety fee per person will be collected for cleaning and maintenance of the forest area.
  • Devotees will be permitted to trek only after health screening by the Health Department.
  • Single-use plastic items and easily inflammable materials are strictly prohibited.

The District Collector has requested the public and devotees to extend their full cooperation to ensure the safety of devotees and protection of the natural resources and biodiversity of the forest area.
