Special Handloom Exhibition and Medical Camp to Mark 12th National Handloom Day in Coimbatore
The National Handloom Day is observed every year on August 7 to honour and recognise the contributions of handloom weavers. The day is celebrated to commemorate the beginning of the Swadeshi Movement on August 7, 1905, remember the freedom struggle led by the people, and promote the use of indigenous products.
The handloom weaving industry is a traditional and important sector that deserves recognition next to agriculture, providing livelihoods to a large number of people.
In Coimbatore district, on the occasion of the 12th National Handloom Day on 07.08.2026, the Handlooms Department will organise a Special Handloom Exhibition at the Coimbatore District Collectorate premises and a Special Medical Camp for weavers at Vadambacheri area, Pollachi Taluk.
